Pamela Cohen is the Coordinator of English at Carroll College Broulee on the NSW Eurobodalla Coast. Her interests in Sports History lie in her research about the relationship between sport and war in Australian Society. She has written and presented on topics including ’Our Sporting Anzacs: a discussion of Anzacs, Diggers and War in Australian Contemporary Sport’ and had her work on sport in prisoner of war camps published under the title: ’Barbed Wire Brumbies: Australian Prisoners of War and Sport during WWII’.
In 2005/6 Pamela taught a course on Images of Sport examining the literal, metaphorical, spiritual and philosphical concepts of sport in modern society and throughout history. Pamela also lectured and tutored at the University of Canberra in 2005/6 in the Education Faculty in the area of integration of ICT.
Her role as a secondary teacher presents opportunities to explore the integration of Information Communication Technologies into teaching and learning. She also co-facilitated a program for her peers through the auspices of the Australian Government Quality Teaching Program ( AGQTP) on ICT and on work in visual literacy and the development of narrative through image.
Pamela has also worked as a consultant to the Australian Government’s Harmony Day Website, providing resources to encourage students to explore the causes, and find solutions, to racism and discrimination.
